Holiday Gift Ideas for Chickens, Ducks, and People—2021
Well, it’s that time of year again—when I talk about holiday gifts for your chickens or your people who love chickens. And this year, as a new keeper of ducks, it is incumbent upon me to expand that list to include ducks and duck lovers.
But you know what? There just isn’t a lot out there for ducks! I suppose chicken keepers have the duck keepers outnumbered. But still, we duck folks do exist! And we do exchange gifts! So come on, retailers of the world—it’s up to you!
Here are some ideas for this season: a few duck things, a few chicken things, and some classics that have appeared here before. Happy browsing!
OH, btw, all of the products displayed here are available on Amazon and are linked. If you click on the image, you’ll wind up right at the appropriate item on Amazon.
Duck Cup
Imagine you’re drinking your morning coffee out of this nice ceramic mug and as the coffee level goes down, you begin to see that there’s something in your cup. You take another drink and that something emerges, and you see it’s a happy little duckie! Well, of course he’s happy – he’s swimming in coffee! What a great way for you to start the day! And you can also get a companion chicken cup—or you can just go crazy and get the whole adorable animal set!
Duck Tees
There’s nothing better than going through the day in a tee shirt emblazoned with a positive, self-affirming statement. Oh, well actually there’s one better thing, and that’s going through the day in a tee shirt emblazoned with a positive, self-affirming duck-related statement! Do you feel that you should always be yourself unless you can be a duck? Are you just a girl who loves ducks? Well, here you go!
Chicken Farmer Barbie
Do you know a child who loves Barbies AND chickens. This is for that child! Do you love Barbies and chickens? Gift yourself!! This set includes Barbie, the chickens, and the coop.
Chicken Measuring Cups
I love these little guys on so many levels! First, they’re like those Russian matryoshka dolls, where one doll is inside another that is inside another. Hand these over to your kids and they’ll be entertained for hours! But wait! These aren’t your typical matryoshka dolls – there’s a chick inside an egg inside a hen—so as your kids play with them, they learn all about how life really works! But wait! They aren’t just a cute toy, they’re actually accurate dry-measure cups, so if you can pry them out of your kids’ hands, you can actually use them in the kitchen!
Travel mug
“I never dreamed I’d grow up to be a super cool chicken lady. But here I am, rocking it!” Has that thought ever gone through your mind? Well, now you can display that idea on this great stainless steel, insulated travel mug—and then you can add your name right down there at the bottom! Then, between sips of your beverage, you can turn your cup around and view 32 different breeds of chickens. This feature allows you to plan your flock expansion so you can become even more super cool!
Metal Rooster
This beautiful hand-crafted metal rooster will add a decorative touch to any garden. And he will never scratch out seedlings, nor will he ever peck holes in any tomatoes.
Chicken Ornament
Any new chicken owner should have a chicken ornament on their tree. And any established chicken owner knows how to use their chicken-math skills to acquire the whole set!
Chicken Earrings
You probably know just the right person to rock these earrings. She’s the one with the coop in the backyard with five or six hens, each with a name and a backstory. These little ear hens have so much personality, she’ll want to name them as well.
Egg Cartons
If you have a flock, eggs are the obvious gift for your friends and family. And these attractive cartons are perfect for holding those eggs. Each carton holds a dozen, or can be split in two for a half-dozen.
Grub Terra Dried Black Soldier Fly Grub Treats
Dried black soldier fly grubs are the best thing to come along since sliced bread - and you know how much your hens love sliced bread! These grubs provide your birds with all sorts of protein and other important nutrients and are raised entirely on preconsumer food waste. When you buy a bag of Grub Terra grubs, you’re removing garbage from the waste stream and at the same time giving your flock a healthy, delicious snack. A perfect gift to put in your ducks’/chickens’ stockings!
Titan Incubator Chick Heating Plate
Ducklings and chicks need heat. And if there’s no mama to provide that heat, this heater is the next best thing. Heat lamps suck tons of electricity and are potentially dangerous. They can explode and start fires. This heater sips power and is more natural—the babies can crawl under it just like they crawl under their mother’s wing. I’ve been using these heaters for several years and I’m sure that every Hipster Hen and Graham Quacker that I’ve raised under this heater has fond memories of this heater.
Heated Pet Water Bowl
This is what my ducks are getting for Christmas! This 1.5-gallon heated pet bowl holds enough water that they can put their whole head in the water and drink like ducks! Will there be hijinks and splashing? Absolutely! My ducks’ bowl is going on a wooden platform, outdoors!
